FRIULIAN "VINEYARD OF TIME"

The history of the Friulano grape variety (formerly Tocai) is distorted.),as fine as it is tough… It survives in some vineyards in the south of France under the name of Sauvignonasse; it has been planted in Chile and Argentina, probably confused with Sauvignon Blanc, given the similarity of the vines in vegetation; In Italy it is present in Veneto and even in Lombardy. It finds its ideal territory in Friuli, where it expresses itself in all its grandeur. It requires “lean soils” that contain its vigor, allowing the bunch to fully ripen. I personally curated 8 different massal selections in our collection vineyard of “yellow biotype Tocai”. As I have learned over the years, when the bunch is ripe and golden, the masterpiece is guaranteed! Slow and soft pressing of the grapes, fermentation with indigenous pied de uve, the patience to wait for it… The saffron yellow hue reflects in the glass. Unique nose, citrus notes that mix with spicy returns, then truffle, almond husk. From the first sip it is broad, powerful, then salty, closing with a typical almond note.
