Its gamma-linolenic acid content is twice as high as in evening primrose oil. For who ? Borage Oil is intended for people with an imbalance in lipid intake and an insufficient intake of gamma-linolenic acid. It is particularly useful for its metabolic functions. Actions: 1 - GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) is quickly converted into GDLA (dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid), constituting phospholipids of the cell membrane. GLA is also a precursor of prostaglandins PGE1. Because of its rarity in modern diets, it may be wise to supplement with this fatty acid. 2 - The LA (linoleic acid) contained in borage oil is an omega-6 fatty acid qualified as essential because the body is incapable of synthesizing it, it must therefore be supplied through food. Borage oil contains oleic acid which is a monounsaturated fatty acid from the omega-9 series. This ingredient is frequently used in cosmetics, particularly for the suppleness and elasticity of the skin. Usage tips Borage oil is preferably taken during meals, with a glass of water.
