Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known by her initials AOC, is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district. The district includes the eastern part of the Bronx, portions of north-central Queens, and Rikers Island in New York City. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest-ever elected congresswoman. Ocasio-Cortez's core political values are a key reason why she so greatly appeals to millennial and Gen-Z voters. She's a Democratic Socialist, and the Democratic Socialists of America define their beliefs as feeling that "both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few."
