It has a particularly high protein content (2%) compared to other honey varieties.</p><p>It also has antiseptic and diuretic properties. Greek heather honey has won international quality awards in contests.<br>In fact, in a study conducted in 2012 it was found that heather honey has the highest phenol content. Additionally, its high antioxidant content contributes to the neutralization of free radicals, which are produced as a result from metabolic reactions and exposure to external environmental pollutants.
