Lapsang Souchong, also called Zhengshan Xiaozhong or Little Wuyi Foot, is a red tea of ancestral origin. Considered the precursor of red teas, it has more than 400 years of history. Born in Tong Mu Village, Chong'an (now Wuyishan) region in Fujian Province, this tea was created by local farmers in the late Ming Dynasty. Its unique manufacturing process, involving drying on pine leaves, gives it an incomparable intense and smoky flavor. Lapsang Souchong is the origin of the development of the famous Wulong (Oolong) teas. The dried leaves are a dark gray color from smoking, but infuse a deep, aromatic amber liquor. A real gem to be enjoyed by lovers of rare and authentic teas.
