OLD RUM - THE SPIRIT OF THE SEAS

Limited edition of 2 barrels of 471 bottles. 48%Vol.   3 years in new barrels & Armagnac barrels aged by the Awen Nature distillery.   Hand numbered bottles.   In the heart of the year 2020, in a distant Caribbean archipelago, Captain Awen and the crew of the ship called “the Spirit of the Seas” arrived on “the island of Beautiful Waters”: Guadeloupe.   Awen had the habit during his travels of bartering his treasures for local delicacies and from this wonderful island he left with the most precious of spoils: two barrels of rum of unequaled quality, a raw rum as pure as golden alloy , a clear, crystalline rum with soft reflections.   Captain Awen was aware of this wealth and he decided not to share the barrels with his crew but to keep them to improve them.   Returning to his lair in Brittany, he reserved his barrels of rum next to his stills so that they would communicate heat to them.   The rum was thus lulled by the fire of an incalculable number of alcohol distillations for three long years and was also witness to the thousand and one adventures of the crew of the Spirit of the Seas.   Rum observed the stories of sunny days where the songs of the sirens mingled with the laughter of the crew, he was tormented by relentless storms where the black sky of worry merged with the raging waves that awaited them, he survived the fury of Poseidon's anger which seemed to want to engulf the entire lair!   The rum not only gained in heat and age but, thus bathed in the daily life of the Spirit of the Seas, it was nourished by each ordeal that the crew experienced during these years, which added to its essence a mysterious complexity… Indeed, each stormy episode, each wild evening, each declared love at first sight and each period of trade winds were thus captured in these two barrels, giving them a taste that told a story: that of “Captain Awen and the Spirit of the Seas.”   And when the Captain finally opened the barrels to offer his crew the fruit of this adventure, it was not only the rum that the sailors began to taste but the tears, the laughter, the fears and the hopes of the entire crew. during all those years.   This rum was much more than a drink, it was a treasure more precious than all the gold in the world, it had the power of the taste of memory and experiences matured over the past three years.   So to all those who are lucky enough to discover a drop of these precious barrels, keep in mind the story of Captain Awen and his Guadeloupe rum, because each sip is a speech from the crew of the Spirit of the Seas and their epic.
