Charles Dickens was an English novelist who lived in the 19th century and is one of the most famous and influential authors in the history of English literature. 

Born in Portsmouth in 1812, he had a difficult childhood living at times in poverty and having to work to support his family. 

Despite this, through hard work and diligence, he managed to become a successful writer. 

Dickens was known for his realistic and humorous novels dealing with the life and problems of British society in the 19th century. 

His most famous works are "Oliver Twist", "David Copperfield" and "A Christmas Carol".
