In order to reflect the unmistakable character of the beautiful Saar region, only botanicals, which are an essential part of Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin, are used in addition to wormwood, lovage and vineyard leeks from our own cultivation. Our Rosé Vermouth based on Riesling is the perfect homage to the blooming spring and the long, warm summers in the Saar Valley. A bitter-sweet symphony carefully made with hand-picked Riesling grapes and regional ingredients such as local rhubarb, red vineyard peaches, grape blossoms, bitter orange, large-fruited cranberries, elder and passion flowers. The return to old traditions in harmony with new ideas has always been part of the history of the Saar and Moselle region. Ferdinand's - named after the co-founder of the VDP, the Royal Prussian forester Ferdinand Geltz (1851-1925) - is deeply rooted in the character and heritage of the Saar Valley. The Vallendar family has been producing the finest spirits in the idyllic village of Bilzingen-Wincheringen for many generations. Craftsmanship and alchemy are combined here in a proud tradition, firmly rooted in the region: the true essence of the Saar – an elegant combination of ancient artisanal traditions and innovation – distilled to perfection. The rough Devonian slate soils of the large steep slate slopes of the Saarburger Rausch and the cool climate of the Saar form the perfect basis for the first Riesling vermouth in the world. The minerality and fruit of the Saar Riesling, the bitterness of the vermouth and the floral, spicy aromas of the regional herbs and flowers give this vermouth wine from the Saar valley its unique lightness and elegance.
