Kitul, Caryota Urens, is a palm tree with large, beautiful flowers growing in Sri Lanka. The flower's sap is harvested each day by cutting a piece of the flower's stem; this sap is filtered, then heated, then boiled at a temperature reaching approximately 110° until a beautiful brown color is obtained.
