Hawkens Gingerbread is an artisan manufacturer of quality gingerbread products including both our Hawkens Gingerbread and England's oldest commercially traded biscuit: Grantham Gingerbread.
Alastair Hawken saved Grantham Gingerbread from oblivion when he learned that production of the biscuit his town was always famous for had been discontinued.
Alastair started baking without a recipe and after much experimentation, failure, refinement and trial testing with test groups, the product came back to market and is enjoying the success it is today.
After a chance meeting with a fourth member of William Eggleston's family, it was later discovered that the recipe was identical to the original!
