Koor red 2019

This wine is made from a traditional blend of indigenous Armenian grape varieties grown in the high altitude vineyards of the Vayots Dzor region. The grape variety is elegant, fruity and subtle. The latter is judiciously balanced by a more tannic grape variety, . This gives this wine a more powerful structure. The mineral notes are derived from the region's unique terroir; a combination of volcanic and limestone sediments. This wine can be served alone but can also accompany soft cheeses, light cheeses or white meats. Benefit from a 5% discount by ordering by case of 6 bottles and 10% for 12 bottles. At "Highland Cellars" we celebrate life, our history and our future. The name Koor is a tribute to the craftsmanship of boats as well as the Armenian wine trade. Herodotus teaches us in his book "Histories" (chapter 194), of the practice of Armenian merchants who traveled between Armenia and Babylon following the Euphrates in boats built of wood and animal furs carrying wooden barrels of palm tree filled with wine and a few donkeys. In Babylon, the latter sold wine and wood, rolled up animal furs to then load them on donkeys and set off again towards Armenia along the banks of the river.
