NATURE AS INSPIRATION
In today's architecture and industrial production, the straight line is used almost exclusively. Nature, the greatest artist of all, seldom uses the straight line. Everything is based on varying shapes down to a dizzying level of detail, beyond the eye's ability.
If you put a sheet on a white piece of paper, you get a work of art. When the leaf was sitting on the tree, it was not a work of art, but when it ends up in our world of straight lines, the work of art appears. I want to let nature be the artist and reinforce the tribute by creating contrasts with industrial forms. I have used modern laser scanning and CAD technology to make the shapes as accurate as possible. It is the same water lily that I swam out and picked in a lake in Dalarna that is now immortalized in brass.
The design work is carried out in collaboration with my wife, Frida, who helps to refine the product. In addition to being true to nature, the design must also be so appealing that customers want to leave them in the finest places in the home year after year.
Lilliestråle Mässing will continue to create beautiful objects where nature is the true artist.
