Mjødgård is a microbrewery specializing in brewing mead. We have a brewery in Dalby, on the border between Stevns and Faxe municipality. Our brewery is decorated in historical setting, in one of the old Heering liqueur halls. The brewery was started by Odd Castmar in 2008 at Djursland. In January 2018, I took over (Thomas Priiskorn) Mjødgård, and am today Mjødgård's owner and brewer.
In connection with the change of ownership, the brewery moved to East Zealand, first based at Stevns and after 15 months there, we moved it to Dalby in some larger premises. From here, our gourmet mead is still brewed. The whole idea and vision behind Mjødgård is to brew a mead of the highest quality. We want to brew gourmet mead and we see ourselves as part of the New Nordic Cuisine.
The brewery works with an authentic and traditional approach to brewing, which has been in use since the Viking Age and probably even further back in time.
