Distilled from the leaves of the bitter orange tree, petit grain bigarade essential oil is ideal in cosmetics for the beauty of oily skin and hair. Diffusion or orally, it promotes relaxation and contributes to good nervous balance. Compared to other citrus essential oils such as lemon, mandarin or sweet orange, petitgrain bigarade is not photosensitizing. In fact, this essential oil comes from the leaves of the bitter orange tree and not from the zest of the fruits like all other citrus essences. Relaxing, harmonizing and anti-stress, it is therefore ideal for massage or oral administration, even during the day when the sun is shining, whereas other citrus fruits are not recommended in this case. The bitter orange tree, also called bitter orange (Citrus aurantium var amara) alone produces 3 essential oils of choice: petit grain bigarade (coming from the distillation of the leaves), bitter orange essential oil (coming from expression of the zest of the fruit) and the precious neroli (from the distillation of the flowers).
