HASAt birth, the baby chimpanzee weighs less than 2 kg and is entirely dependent on its mother for survival. Unable to move alone, he clings to the latter who carries him under her belly so as not to lose him. At the age of one, he will be able to climb onto her back so that she can carry him safely on her shoulders. Until the age of 2, the child is sometimes on its mother's back, sometimes alone, discovering its environment. He enjoys swinging, jumping on branches or even fighting. The baby chimpanzee learns through play to discover its peers and to fit into the group to find its place."
