The hammerhead shark is a species of fish easily recognizable by the large, flattened extensions of its head with eyes on the sides. The shape of its head allows it to take very tight turns. It can measure up to 5 meters long and weigh nearly 150 kg. The hammerhead shark is found throughout tropical oceans and shallow coastal waters. It feeds mainly on squid, octopus and crustaceans. While young individuals gather in bands, adults are rather solitary.
