Birch ash has a rich natural content of potassium carbonates and has traditionally been used for base fermentation due to its high pH value (approx. 12). We often have too high a salt (sodium) intake through the diet. In addition to trying to reduce the daily consumption of sodium, which binds fluid in the body, you can use potassium, which regulates fluid balance. The oxygen in the carbonates also binds up excess acids which are actually hydrogen ions (H +) and releases these as water (H2O). Birch ash works as a combination of mineral and alkalizing agents for the body. Use Birch ash has traditionally been used because it is so rich in minerals and alkaline. It contains, among other things, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, chromium, zinc, manganese, molybdenum and selenium. But it should primarily be seen as a fantastic source of potassium and a good remedy for acidification and water retention in the body. For base-making, we also recommend the rock minerals calcium and magnesium carbonates (for example our pH lime). Recipe for birch ash extract: Mix 4 tablespoons of birch ash with 2 liters of water in a stainless steel saucepan. Boil for 15 minutes under a lid. Let cool. Then strain the decoction through a coffee filter. The finished extract should be stored cool or in the refrigerator and consumed within two months. Take about 2-3 tablespoons a couple of times a day in at least 1.5 - 2 dl water. Never drink undiluted decoction!
