In 2020, I joined an animal protection and environmental awareness association, as a host family volunteer. At the end of the year, in order to help replenish the association's coffers, I volunteered to make a few textile bags embroidered with the logo.
And there, a revelation. At that moment, I was realizing what I wanted to reorient myself for at the time: to support an organization in which I believe. And what’s more, doing work that I love. Sapir was born.
After days of discussions, especially with myself, I decided to give it a go. I will continue to make; I will continue to support the associations I love by donating part of my earnings to them. But above all, I will make sure to include as many values that are important to me as possible. Those who led me to these changes in my life. And where I am today.
From upcycling:
I care about second hand, zero waste and anti-waste. It was obvious to me to include it in my project. So, I made the decision to start with a raw material that I would use in upcycling. I therefore chose to use fabrics from rolls or the end of unused rolls from other companies. Because there are already enough extraordinary tissues lying dormant all around us to create new ones. And a little bonus, this allows very small series or unique products without increasing my prices.
French:
I care about French, artisanal, local, handmade. Outsourcing manufacturing abroad is out of the question. No. I will continue to make my ten fingers from my “workshop” in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in 78.
Simple but varied, and above all useful, products:
Scrunchies and Scrunchies, simple, plain, colorful, patchwork… and available in all sizes to suit every need.
Clutches, weekend bags, relaxation mask with the sweet scent of chamomile...
My creations are made to live and support their customers in their daily lives.
Several sizes, several uses, several shapes.
The goal is to use every little scrap and minimize losses and waste as much as possible.
Associative support:
Because this story emerged in an animal protection association, a share of the profits will naturally continue to go to animal protection associations.
In summary:
It is important to me to promote zero waste. Whether by making items from sleeping fabrics, but also and precisely by making durable and useful objects that will not sleep in turn.
I put my affection for animals, my desire for meaning, my love of creating with my hands, my search for better things and more French manufacturing, as well as my taste for craftsmanship, in this project. Thus Sapire was born.
