BAMBOO MATCHA WHIP

The matcha whisk, also called Chasen, is a traditional Japanese tool for preparing matcha green tea. Handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo, it is ideal for dissolving matcha powder and creating a creamy foam. Historically, it was in China, during the Song dynasty (960-1279), that powdered tea and the bamboo whisk were used for the first time. However, it was after being introduced to Japan that the Chasen was improved and became an essential tool in the tea ceremony founded by Buddhist monks. Used for centuries, Chasen is therefore the most important element after matcha itself to prepare your drink like a tea master. It's not just about dissolving the powder: foaming and oxygenation are the key to a smooth drink with umami flavors. The dissolution of matcha powder depends on the number of pistils that make up the external corolla of the whisk: the more strands there are, the finer the matcha emulsion will be. Our Chasen, composed of 100 pistils, will allow optimal dissolution and the formation of a fine foam on the surface.     Bamboo is the ideal material because, in addition to being of natural origin and biodegradable, it leaves no taste or odor that could affect the delicacy of matcha.
