Our social mission
Threads of Life was born out of a desire to see lasting change in those on the margins of society through dignified and sustained employment. For this reason, we partner with an ethical producer whose mission is to bring fresh starts to people in Kathmandu through their not-a-sweatshop manufacturing facility. Every employee is eligible to receive school scholarships for their children so that the cycle of poverty will be broken for the next generation. Building on this desire to impact those in society who have had a tough start, we are excited to announce that we are now a Future Builder through our contributions to Transforming Lives for Good (TLG).
TLG is a UK-wide children’s charity, supporting children and families facing challenges including food insecurity, school exclusion, educational disadvantage, isolation and emotional wellbeing. Meet the founder
Fiona writes:
'Since I can remember I have been passionate about traditional textiles which led me to study Textile Design at the Royal College of Art. But textiles in themselves weren’t enough; I wanted to make them into accessories so I had reason to use and enjoy them each day.
When my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes I created a bag to hold the essential testing kit that we needed to have at hand 24/7. Having received positive feedback on this bag from other people living with Type 1 diabetes and also epilepsy, I decided to make these available to all those who want to give their everyday medical kit a stylish and functional new home.
