A traditional Mauritian festive dish that has a rich & opulent flavour. It is a dish that used to be kept for Special Occasions but is now more widely cooked. The best way to enjoy a Kalia is when it is slow cooked, & with the addition of yoghurt & almonds, it delivers a rich & unique flavour. Kalia Spice has no turmeric and is more of a light brown colour. It is not a curry, nor a tagine and the best way to describe the flavours, are unctuous & creamy.
