Chasen whisk for matcha tea

Small whisk made in the tradition and the Japanese know-how. Since matcha is a green tea powder, not a tea that is infused, it must be mixed. The traditional utensil specially designed for this is the “chasen”. It is carefully cut from a single piece of bamboo to obtain no less than 120 stems! These allow you to whip the matcha and obtain a light foam on the surface of the drink, as is the Japanese tradition. 🌱 USE AND CARE First, you will notice that a new chasen and a used chasen look different. On a new chasen, the center stems are closed, tied together. From the first use, like a flower that blooms, the whisk will begin to open. 👉🏽 BEFORE USE: Soak it for about two minutes in a small bowl of warm water, to gently relax the stems. 👉🏽 USE: Hold your bowl with one hand, and come, with the other, to whip your matcha + water mixture. The gesture must reproduce the shape of an “M”. It is energetic without being heavy. Indeed, the rods of your whisk should only touch the bottom and the edges of the bowl. After about twenty seconds, a small foam appears. It's ready ! 👉🏽 RINSING AND DRYING: You can rinse your whisk in cold water without adding any cleaning product. Then let it dry upright, stems up, and in the open air. To avoid mould, it is important not to put it back in its case. This recycled and recyclable cardboard box is only used to protect the whip from travel. After a number of uses of your chasen (estimated at 200 uses, on average), some strands will begin to become brittle. It will then be time to get yourself a brand new one!
