Sensory profile: “Natural notes of caramel, nuts and chocolate. » Coffee with a lot of body on round and chocolatey notes with a slight bitterness brought by the roasting. Not or slightly acidic. It was important to us to offer you affordable coffee in our fixed range. So we decided to introduce you to this Brazilian coffee from the Bahia region. Why “Espresso”? Quite simply because we have a slightly more advanced roast compared to our other coffees and it adapts very well to Espresso methods (bean machine, manual espresso...). About: Country: Brazil Region: Bahia Species: Arabica Variety: Blend Process: Nature Altitude: 1000 - 1200 m Harvest: May - September SCA Score: 81/100 The region of Bahia: Bahia is a state of Brazil located in the northeast of the country on the Atlantic coast. It has long been a point of convergence of European, African and Amerindian cultures where coffee cultivation developed recently, during the 1970s. It is the northernmost appellation in Brazil and is known for being one of the regions that uses the most cutting-edge technologies, whether in production, harvesting or preparation. Total mechanization is largely required, with irrigation allowing uniform ripening of the cherries. The Catuai variety is representative of this region. Moreover, three quarters of production comes from Arabica crops. Bahia benefits from high altitudes for Brazil and a warm climate, offering coffees with a full body and medium acidity. The Bob-o-Link Curupira project: Curupira is a fantastic creature, protector of the forest. Very popular in Brazil, Curupira is the official symbol of nature protection. Belco's FAF partner created this Curupira project to enhance the value of the smaller grains (16+) from the Bob-o-link project. Their vision is: “True sustainability must incorporate a concept of waste minimization. Waste as a producer and as a citizen living in a world increasingly facing scarcity must be considered an aberration." As the specialty coffee industry grew, larger beans became more sought after. For our farmers, they represent 40 to 50% of their total production, not even half! Belco wants to help farmers better sell and add value to all of their coffees and thus bring them closer to a "full profitability farm". Screen grains 16 and above represent 20% of their production. These coffees are just as good and sometimes better, often with a higher density due to more compact beans. Bobolink Curupira coffees are the smallest screens from family production by our coffee growers, all working with sustainable practices. Promoting these high-quality coffees with a more competitive price than the large screens offers incredible potential, and offers new opportunities for specialty coffee (local businesses, corporate offices, small supermarkets, etc.).
