Mexico Artisans du Monde coffee comes from highlands of Chiapas at an altitude of 1000 at 1500 meters. It is renowned for its aroma tangy and full-bodied. Grains are picked by hand and dried in the sun. Our Mexico coffee is cultivated by several Mexican cooperatives. Our main partner is FEDCAFE, from grouping of 2 historic cooperatives, Cocosi and Sesco, respectively founded in 2002 and in 2005. FEDCAFE now has 680 members in the southern part of the state of Chiapas. It plays a technical support role with producers in a context where the " coffee rust ”has affected many coffee trees : it is a disease caused by a fungus which leads to yield losses important. Thus, producers are trained to the fight against this disease fungal through agroecological treatments. A replanting program of new coffee trees have also been put in place. The fair trade premium enabled these 2 years of financing the renovation of storage centers for green coffee.
