Three friends, one passion: beer

Hard work and years of study dedicated to the search for a range of authentic flavors and aromas made it possible for Kauss to be born on April 23, 2012. The date chosen for the coronation of the dream is a tribute to the Reinheizgebot, the Edict of Purity of Bavarian beer, on the day of its anniversary, of which Kauss welcomes the ideal of high quality beers, simple and genuine, but never banal.

From the very beginning, the three friends and founding members wanted to represent a beer linked to the local economy and its origins, respectful of nature and uncompromising on the quality and genuineness of raw materials. The brewery is located in the rural building of Luigi's family (the master brewer), which was renovated ad hoc to house the production plant, with spaces and excellent development opportunities.

The love for the land and for agriculture runs in the blood of the three friends, who soon develop the need to have complete control of the production chain, starting with the direct cultivation of raw materials with the organic method. Hence the decision to set up an agricultural company with great attention to the cultivation areas, located around the brewery. In 2017, the transition to 'agricultural brewery' was official and the cereals needed for brewing began to grow at the foot of the Monviso in the Val Varaita, a valley in the Piedmont region characterized by a land rich in biodiversity, nutrients and water. The water of Val Varaita is of great importance, immediately revealing itself to be perfect for the recipes studied by Luigi, Diego and Ivan.

The company guarantees a high quality and sustainable product thanks to the right balance between tradition and innovation, combining the new trends in the sector with the agricultural practices of the old generations.

Tradition teaches the principle of respect for nature:

working in harmony with the territory means following the breath of the earth and the alternation of cuts, preserving the balance between human action and the cycles of nature.

Innovation, on the other hand, allows for the improvement of cultivation techniques, among which organic farming deserves a special mention, which has proved to be the ideal system for the production of healthy, genuine and sustainable raw materials.

Growing according to the organic method means using organic fertilizers, mechanical (and non-chemical) weeding and making use of periodic crop rotation. Only in this way can Kauss guarantee the customer a safe, clean and authentic beer.
