In the Szekszárd region, Bikavér must have Kékfrankos and Kadarka in the blend. Márkvárt Bikavér is always based on 50% Kékfrankos and 10% Kadarka. The other varieties alternate between Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt every year. The wine is aged for 1 year in old barrels, resulting in an elegant and complex wine. Bikavér in Szekszárd stands for complexity and elegance, coming from the beautiful acidity, supported by ripe black fruit and subtle spices. An excellent wine with barbecue and meat dishes, but also cheese or black chocolate is always a good choice in addition to this wine.
