One of the finest decaffeinated coffees we've tasted so far. This decaffeinated sugarcane batch from Azahar Coffee Company was sourced from 7 producers spread across 4 municipalities in Huila, Colombia, some of Azahar's most sustainable producer partnerships. Like all Azahar decaffeinated coffees, this batch was decaffeinated at the Decafecol factory in Manizales, Caldas department. The natural solvent used is ethyl acetate and it is derived from a mixture of acetic acid (vinegar) and a distilled natural extract of sugarcane, blackberries, beets or sometimes grapes. The process uses a direct solvent method, meaning the beans are first steamed to open their pores, then rinsed repeatedly in ethyl acetate to remove the caffeine.
