It is now led by Jean-Albert Faytout and his eldest son Pierre. Pierre Faytout joined the family business in 2008 to perpetuate family know-how. The Château La Rigodrie vineyard in Puisseguin comes from his grandmother, and those of the Tour d'Horable in Castillon belonged to his grandfather, who came from a cooper family. A real family business: the parents of some of his employees worked with his grandparents! Pierre and his team produce expressive and authentic wines, in the image of their soils and their winegrowers. 🌿 Château La Rigodrie has 30 hectares with clay-limestone soils and limestone basements. Concerned about the environment, the Faytout family has been working in organic farming since 2010 and has benefited from the “organic” label since the 2013 harvest. The organic reconversion has made it possible to rediscover real biodiversity. This approach has supported the desire to create wines of pleasure while having an ecological approach. The family objective is to have a wine that can be drunk immediately by the consumer, but also to offer a cellaring time of five to ten years because of its prestigious appellation. ⛅ The vineyard has an average age of 30, it is exposed North-South for the 5-hectare hillside plateau and East-West for the hillside. The stages of vinification are cold settling of the juices, maintaining temperatures at 25°C during the alcoholic fermentation with punching down for gentle extraction and maceration for 3 weeks and running off. Aging is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. 🍇 This wine is blended from 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. The color is of incredible intensity resulting from a slow and controlled extraction. the nose is rich opening on a mouth allowing all the superlatives: powerful, dense, balanced on a beautiful sweetness. A very well made wine from the vine to the bottle.
