The caper has been cultivated since ancient times and is widespread throughout the Mediterranean basin. 

The fruit, with a delicate flavour, is used in gastronomy to flavor an infinite variety of dishes. ANDan excellent condiment for fish dishes, but also goes perfectly with foods such as meat and pasta. 

It is also widely used for aperitifs and mixed starters.
