Ingmar Bergman

Ingmar Bergman (1918–2007) is probably Sweden's most famous film director. With over 50 films spanning half a century, his most prominent works include The Seventh Seal (1957), Persona (1963) and Fanny and Alexander (1982). His gloomy films about existential questions and difficult relationships were told in a unique idiom that made Scandinavian film art world famous. On the television front, Bergman excelled with Scenes from a Marriage (1974), which reportedly prompted many to call the director for marriage advice, and caused divorce rates to rise in Sweden. Industrial designer Jan Landqvist is responsible for the idea and design of the series »Swedish literature support«, Landqvist has many years of professional experience from Gustavsberg's factories and has designed everything from porcelain for bathrooms to giftware and plastic products. The bookends are made in Gnosjö, Sweden and are made of cut and bent sheet steel that has been treated with a black, durable powder coating. The dimensions are 15x15 centimeters for the portraits and 10x15 centimeters for the base plate. Designer: Landqvist, Jan
