Marcel Proust

Marcel Proust 1871-1922 (1871–1922) was a French writer, critic and essayist. Among critics, he is considered to be one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. He was active during his youth in the finer circles of France during La Belle Époque. Proust's life's work was his great memoir, In Search of Time That Has Gone, which begins with a bite of a madeleine cake that evokes memories of his childhood and begins a breathtaking investigation into the nature of time. The novel suite consists of seven volumes and is based on Proust's own life, depicted allegorically. In total, the volumes consist of 3,200 pages and touch up to 2,000 characters. Industrial designer Jan Landqvist is responsible for the idea and design of the series »Swedish literature support«, Landqvist has many years of professional experience from Gustavsberg's factories and has designed everything from porcelain for bathrooms to giftware and plastic products. The bookends are made in Gnosjö, Sweden and are made of cut and bent sheet steel that has been treated with a black, durable powder coating. The dimensions are 15×15 centimeters for the portraits and 10×15 centimeters for the base plate. Designer: Landqvist, Jan
