Tove Jansson

Finnish-Swedish Tove Jansson is one of the most famous Finnish artists of all time. She was born in 1914 in Helsinki, straight into a family of artists – her father was the Finnish-Swedish sculptor Viktor Jansson and her mother Signe Hammarsten-Jansson was a Swedish cartoonist. In the autobiographical book The Sculptor's Daughter (1968), Jansson herself describes her childhood, where the later career choice came naturally – Tove Jansson was also going to become an artist and she began studying at art schools in Stockholm, Helsinki and Paris early on. Industrial designer Jan Landqvist is responsible for the idea and design of Novellix bookends. The bookends are made in Gnosjö in Småland and are made of cut and bent sheet steel that has been treated with a black, durable powder coating. The dimensions are 15×15 cm for the portraits and 10×15 cm for the base plate. Designer: Landqvist, Jan
