The story of a bad surprise...
The story of Nutragood began with a simple personal observation.
During my adolescence, while I was doing a lot of sport, I discovered the benefits of spirulina.
Later, when my son joined a sports-study section, I wanted to offer him a natural, healthy and effective supplement. It was quite natural for me to turn to spirulina.
My research revealed some astonishing facts
90% of the spirulina consumed in France is grown in China and India.
Although certified organic, this spirulina obtains its label through an equivalence regime, not meeting the same strict standards as French organic.
Grown in open-air ponds, it is exposed to pollutants such as heavy metals, which spirulina has the capacity to absorb and conserve.
Additionally, for cost-effectiveness reasons, it is often heated at high temperatures, which destroys much of its nutritional value.
Reading the label of the product I had purchased, I discovered a disturbing truth: although presented as a French product, the spirulina actually came from Asia. This was the first bad surprise...
Passionate French producers
Determined to find an alternative, I contacted importers and distributors.
Some were willing to sell spirulina at very low prices, while others, more honest, advised me against Chinese spirulina because of its dubious quality.
That's when I turned to French producers. I visited their farms and met local enthusiasts determined to produce high quality spirulina.
Unlike Asian spirulina, French organic spirulina is subject to much stricter standards which make it of much better quality.
