After a gestation period of 103 days on average, the tigress gives birth to one or more cubs which can weigh from 700 g to 1,600 g. At birth, they cannot walk and are also blind for the first fourteen days of their life! They will therefore be entirely dependent on their mother during this period. Until they are 8 months old, tiger cubs will mainly drink milk, and it is only after 40 days that the tigress will let them eat meat.
