Due to hand manufacturing and natural variations in materials, they may vary slightly in size, color and shape. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Main material: banana fiber Our vases are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural. Banana fiber is the fibers of the layered trunks of agriculturally used banana trees. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried under the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust starting material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji. Other materials: raffia, nylon thread, metal frame -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Place of production: This vase is handmade in Java, Indonesia. When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we purchase our goods. No harmful chemicals are used during production. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process hardly produces any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
