2022 L'Acrobate - Domaine du Petit Bonhomme DOMAINE DU PETIT BONHOMME - Natural wine, orange wine, Provence, France Domaine du Petit Bonhomme l'Acrobat 2021 @domainedupetbonhomme is a small winery in the heart of Provence (La Motte d’Aigues), which is just around the corner from Aix-en-Provence. It is run by Fabien Chanavas and his wife. He has been working in the winemaking business for about 10 years, including in Corsica at Demeter wineries, and has been making his own natural wine for 3 years. Absolutely natural/without or with the addition of very little sulfites. The grapes are picked by hand and the soil is worked by his beloved horse. He grows Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Syrah on just 1.7 hectares and only makes around 4,000 bottles a year. These are so popular that he exports them to Germany, where we are the exclusive importer, Belgium, Denmark, Japan and Sweden. Domaine du Petit Bonhomme l’Acrobate is a cuvée made from 60% Grenache Blanc and 40% Vermentino. After pressing, 1/3 of the cuvée matures for 6 months in new 300 liter wooden barrels. The 15 days of maceration (like a red wine) produce this beautiful orange color. On the nose we find - raspberries, apricots, mangoes, white grapes and in the background some floral aromas. In the mouth we taste - sweet oranges, fresh apricots, mangoes, passion fruits and a little spice in the finish. A perfect wine for savory dishes.
