Full of energy - with L-carnitine L-carnitine is a chemical compound of the two amino acids lysine and methionine, which plays an essential role in the transport of fatty acids in the energy metabolism. L-carnitine reacts with fatty acids in the metabolism, resulting in so-called active fatty acids. Fatty acids can only be transported to the muscle cells for energy production if they are bound to L-carnitine. The building blocks for the formation of carnitine are primarily found in meat and fish; the well-known vegetarian and vegan sources of L-carnitine only contain the substances in much lower concentrations.
