  • Since 1914
Camilo de Blas is a confectionery founded at the end of the 19th century in León by Don Camilo de Blas Heras. Its main activity is the manufacture and sale of fresh pastry products.
In 1914, the company increased its business and opened a store in Oviedo, which Camilo's son, José de Blas, would run. Ten years later, in 1924, the Mayor of Oviedo commissioned José de Blas to create a sweet that represents the Ovetenses in the first International Trade Fair of Gijón.
José de Blas creates a puff pastry, almond, egg yolk and sugar cake that is baptized Carbayón, a name of the people from Oviedo in honor of a hundred-year-old oak tree in the city of Oviedo. The Carbayón acquires great relevance and becomes the emblematic cake of the city.
The Camilo de Blas house is considered Historical Heritage of the city of Oviedo, and its relevance reaches the cinematographic field. It is part of the set of films such as 'Ho, Papá!' (Jaime de Armiñán, 1975), 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' (Woody Allen, 2008); and television programs such as "Spain on the road again", 2008 and "José Andrés and his family in Asturias", 2023.
