The first vines of Maison RL Legras appeared in 1808.
After the Second World War, the two brothers René and Lucien Legras were both champagne winemakers. At the end of 1972, René and Lucien decided to combine their expertise and their vineyards. This is how Maison R&L Legras was born, following a lineage of five generations of quality winegrowers.
Having joined the House at the age of eighteen, Gérard Barbier passionately and efficiently assumed the direction and development of the House during the end of the last century.
Having learned alongside Gérard, Julien Barbier has continued since 2000 to develop this know-how and promote this heritage. Today, his son Theo accompanies him to learn, perpetuate and transmit the knowledge and values of Maison RL Legras throughout the world.
R&L Legras Champagne wines are white wines made from the Grand Cru of Chouilly. This village, located five kilometers east of Epernay, at the gateway to the famous Côte des Blancs, has a reputation for producing one of the finest Chardonnay vineyards.
The Champagne wines produced by Maison R&L Legras are precise, pure and fresh, with great aromatic intensity, remarkable acidity and depth. Their inherently appealing character, with its assertive typicality, makes them wonderful companions for fine dining pairings, preferably including seafood or poultry raised in the barnyard, poached, grilled or roasted, as well as for those stolen moments between meals.
