Coffee beans from Uganda, from the Kyarumba region. This specialty coffee is delicious and fruity. You will find notes of pineapple, grape and milk chocolate. The terroir This natural coffee comes from the Kyarumba region, located on the slopes of Mount Rwenzori in Uganda, near the border with Kenya. It is grown at an altitude of between 1,400 and 2,000 meters. The harvest of cherries, which reach full maturity between September and December, is carried out manually. These cherries are then sold to Agri Evolve, which takes care of their processing. Agriculture is the main activity in the Rwenzori region, where residents grow coffee, but also food crops such as beans, peanuts and sweet potatoes. The producer This coffee is grown by around 1,700 small producers, each with an average of half a hectare of land where they practice mixed farming. Agri Evolve, a cooperative founded in 2015, then takes charge of processing the coffee. The organization now works with more than 15,000 producers in the Rwenzori region, more than half of whom are Rainforest Alliance certified. Varieties A mix of SL14 and SL28 varieties. Drying method This coffee is dried naturally at the Nyabirongo washing station, where it rests on 140 African beds for three weeks.
