Nouvelle Fleur is an ode to the floral and fruity profiles of Ethiopian coffees. It is also a reference to the country's capital, Addis Ababa, whose French translation is none other than Nouvelle Fleur. Finally Nouvelle Fleur is the name of the second album of Arat Kilo, a musical group with an Ethiopian tropism, mixing fusions with West Africa and Hip-Hop. A round, silky texture accompanies a fair acidity. Extracted cold, this coffee is oriented on liquor and red fruit. The human story of this cafe (from Roasters United notes): Taramesa Cooperative is located in Shebedino district in Sidama region, about 300 km south of Addis Ababa. This coffee is said to be “natural” because immediately after picking, the cherries are spread out on drying beds for 22 days. Taramesa has drying “beds” as well as a small warehouse to store the coffee which is ready to be sent to Addis Ababa for final processing. The cooperative shares a cherry shelling unit with the neighboring Telamo cooperative. Taramesa is one of 42 member cooperatives of the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (SCFCU). The SCFCU team is based in a processing plant in Addis Ababa. This union supports its members to establish direct commercial relations with international coffee buyers, and to put in place production practices that guarantee a constant improvement in the quality of exported coffee.
