Peeled Piennolo del Vesuvio PDO cherry tomatoes in juice

The "Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP" is one of the oldest and most typical products of Campania agriculture. It is grown on the slopes of Vesuvius, in an area well delimited by the D.O.P. The peculiar aspect that best unites the Vesuvius cherry tomatoes is the 'a piennolo' preservation technique. A technical feature for binding the 'shells' of ripe cherry tomatoes together to form a large bunch which is then suspended in ventilated rooms. In this way, through a slow maturation which gives the tomato a unique and delicious flavour, piennolo can be kept until the end of winter. But the cherry tomato is also appreciated on the market in its fresh state, i.e. sold as soon as it is harvested. Or even as a preserve in glass, according to an ancient recipe called 'a pacchetelle', also contemplated in the PDO production specification. Cultivation in soils rich in minerals and characterized by high fertility is carried out according to traditional techniques, without irrigation and with absolutely 'natural' methods. Since it is a geographically and temporally delimited cultivation, we can give our products the wording of 'Limited Edition'. The availability of this product depends on the harvest, which takes place in a limited time window and depends on the climatic trend of the season.
