Satay - (without glutamate!)

The term Sate (pronounced saté) means “skewer” in Javanese; but it is generally used to name the famous "satay sauce". Composed of a dozen spices which give it an authentic Indonesian flavor, our satay contains - among others - coriander, sesame, unrefined sugar, kaffir lime, Guérande sea salt and red pepper from Kampot. It is the ally of shrimps and meats, but it also brings deliciousness to vegetable woks. Indispensable for making your peanut sauce, it can also be used in a marinade. What about monosodium glutamate? Obviously, our exceptional satay does not contain glutamate! This is the case with all our products and particularly our range of scented sesames. With all due respect to some, we shout it out loud because it is possible (and better) to do without; and we believe that it is the duty of the craftsman and the trader to make the choice not to use or sell products which contain them. It should be remembered, however, that initially glutamate is of natural origin since it comes from Kombu algae. It is, what is called, the fifth flavor: the "umami" taste. Extracted from this algae and consumed in small quantities, it is probably harmless. The problem is its chemical version and the 2 million tonnes per year that flood all kinds of products that we consume on a daily basis and very often to our detriment, since many professionals "forget" to mention it or prefer to name it insidiously. : E621, MSG, natural seasoning, smoke aroma or even shamefully “spices”.
