Here the English are a step ahead of us - they distinguish very precisely between "tea", teas that come from the tea plant, and "herbs", the herbal infusions. Many herbs have a health-promoting or even healing effect, so-called medicinal herbal or medicinal teas. Many of these are over-the-counter medicines and are therefore also available in retail outlets, but the seller should have the certificate of competence. Herbal teas are also often called tea drugs. The term drug comes from the Dutch "droog", meaning dry, and originally simply referred to dried plant parts. However, herbal teas are often only enjoyed as a tasty drink. The individual ingredients contain many essential oils and other components that make up the typical taste. Pleasant to drink as these teas are also free of caffeine and calories.
