Upcycling Wallart Buffalo from FlipFlops

A real African water buffalo ... ... emblazoned from the wall in colorful beauty! Somehow it looks a lot friendlier than the original water buffalo. And the great thing is, it is made from 100% recycled flip-flops. The Kenyan organization OceanSole collects the sandals washed up on the coasts of Africa and has local artists use them to make colorful design objects in elaborate manual work, which at the same time avoid masses of rubber waste. In addition, the people employed at OceanSole from Nairobi and various Kenyan areas have fair and lasting professional prospects. The wall decoration consists of colored, prepared sandal rubber. Even the antlers, ears and eyes were made of the material! The buffalo head measures approx. 50 x 70 x 80 cm and weighs about 1.3 kg. It was made from 30 flip-flops. Each product is handmade and therefore unique. The look and texture of the material can therefore vary somewhat.
