
Modica IGP chocolate bar with Ispica sesame In our sesame chocolate, made entirely by hand with the precious Nacional mono-origin Ecuador cocoa, we find the echo of the influence of the Arab domination, which has left its mark in many aspects of life in our Sicily. Ispica, in the province of Ragusa, has always been an important agricultural centre, above all thanks to the presence of water. Right here a very particular and ancient production is preserved, introduced in Sicily precisely by the Arab domination: that of sesame, a small seed with an intense taste, which characterizes many typical recipes of Sicilian cuisine. The Ispicese variety of sesame, now a slow food presidium, was selected two centuries ago by local farmers and is characterized by a small seed, with an amber color and an intense flavour. A Mediterranean flavor for a tablet made unmistakable by the pleasantly crunchy texture of the sesame.
