Capturing nature with all your senses only works if you can be completely in the here and now. Many people succeed in doing this away from the hustle and bustle in the great outdoors. Perhaps it is basic instincts deeply rooted in our genes that make us quiet in such moments and increase our perception. Fragrances that surround us in such moments of contentment dig deep into our olfactory memory. And so many will associate the smell of hay with a summer walk through the meadows and fields of their childhood. It was our goal to preserve exactly this smell in a spirit and to have it ready to hand at any time. To do this, we macerated sun-dried organic mountain meadow hay from the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön and distilled it very gently. The result was a ghost that far exceeded our expectations in terms of addressing the olfactory memory. Our spirit of mountain meadow hay combines the soothing scents of summer-dried hay with the scent of aromatic herbs and fragrant wild grasses that only thrive in such untouched nature and transports you to a freshly mown meadow in no time at all. So-called coumarins, which are also found in woodruff, tonka beans and cinnamon cassia, are responsible for the typical smell of hay when drying grass. These are partially glycosidically bound in the living plant and are only released when the plants wither through the splitting off of the sugar. The coumarin with its sweet, herbal and spicy scent and vanilla-like taste points the way for all creative people in the kitchen and bar to use this unique spirit.
