In the 1970s and 1980s the Grapus collective tried, through its political and graphic commitment, to combine social utility and visual requirements. The work of young researchers, the nine texts that make up this book each explore a particular aspect of Grapus' practice, organization and production. They rely in particular on interviews and on the analysis of archival documents, and are interested in sections that are sometimes unknown to the collective activity. The work thus brings new light, and iconography, for a large part, new, on the work of this singular French group which will have marked the history of contemporary graphics.
