Givre is a sweet, non-sparkling “apple wine”, made using a method exclusive to Domaine Dupont. Givre has an aromatic richness and unique sweetness. This ice cider won an award at the Normandy 2006 Agro-Food Innovation Competition. The cider ferments in stainless steel vats. While calvados is obtained by double distillation (high temperature extraction) of cider, Givre is obtained by lowering the cider to very low temperatures. HASAt these temperatures, ice crystals form. They are separated from the liquid which is then enriched in sugar, alcohol and matter. Eight stages of cooling are required to obtain Frost. Œit: Deep gold, copper highlights, slightly mahogany. Nose: Caramelized apple, supported by notes of honey and dried fruits. Mouth: fresh, rich attack. Beautiful balance, acidity, serosity, aromas of caramelized apples and candied black fruits. A very fresh finish on the palate.
