The origin of MADHU
Our enthusiasm for honey has been with us for a long time. The golden yellow color, the creamy consistency, the sweet taste – who could resist that?! In 2014 we turned our passion into a career in New Zealand to learn more about honey and bees during the summer there.
Here we not only got to know the unique honey from the flowers of the local Manuka bush, but also got to know many beekeepers with whom we still work today.
From the idea to MADHU Honey
Little by little we built a network of beekeepers in New Zealand and an idea took shape: we specialize in real Manuka honey! What was still missing was the name - but that was soon found too. The word “Madhu” originally comes from one of the oldest written languages in the world, Sanskrit, and means sweetness or honey. Similar names in other Indo-Aryan languages - such as Met, Miel, Medus, Miod - also have their origin in the word Madhu. Once we found out, it was clear to us: We will present high-quality honey under the name MADHU Honey!
We have now specialized in the selection of Manuka honey. We buy the honey directly, take care of all transportation issues and distribute this honey under our own brand MADHU Honey. It is important to us that we can always trace where our honey comes from. This is the only way we are able to confidently vouch for its quality and live up to the promise of Pure Raw Honey and Manuka.
